HOW IT WORKS
MURALS: First I will meet with you at your home to get an idea of what you have in mind for your mural and the space I will be working in. It is also helpful if you have some pictures from books, magazines, or clipart of characters, themes color schemes or ideas that you like. Or, if you’re not sure, we can discuss some possibilities and look at examples. After this meeting (within 2 or 3 days) I will give you a free price estimate and an idea of how long the mural will take to complete. Pricing is based on several factors and is difficult to quote without an idea of the size, degree of difficulty, and level of detail of the mural. Next, I will draw up some sketches (within 2 or 3 weeks of the initial meeting) for a deposit of $20-$100, which will go toward the total cost of your mural. I won’t begin painting until you are satisfied with the sketches, at which time I will provide a written contract and we will schedule a start date. Fifty percent of the total fee will be required on the first day of work, and the balance will be due at completion (cash or checks accepted). I ask that the area of the room to be painted be cleared of furniture, curtains, hardware, etc. I will tape off all adjacent trim as well as lay down tarps over the floor and any remaining furniture. Walls should be clean and in good condition. I can paint over painted walls, assuming the base coat is light in color (it is also helpful if you have a small quantity of the base coat color on hand for touch-ups). Wallpaper should be removed and walls painted with primer. I use a combination of latex enamel interior wall paint (for large areas) and acrylic artist paint, both non toxic and washable with warm soapy water and a soft sponge. I can also put a layer of clear finish over the completed mural for an additional fee. OTHER THINGS: I can provide the item to be painted, or I can work on something you already own. Locally, there may be a charge for me to pick up and/or deliver the item. Outside of the eastern Massachusetts area, there will be a shipping charge and payment is due in full prior to shipment.
